DUTIES:
Under the supervision of the Chief Information Officer, the Computer Systems Analyst/Help Desk Supervisor is responsible for developing custom data base applications using MS Access; maintaining the local data warehouse utilizing SQL Server; responding to a wide variety of information technology requests; developing and executing ticketing system training to all faculty, staff and students via the web as well as face-to-face when needed. This position is also responsible for testing new upgrades to the learning management system and ticketing system and providing support and supervision for the centralized IT Help Desk.
Create and disseminate training materials for the Ticketing System via the web as well as face-to-face
Inform and educate the campus regarding Ticketing System and usefulness
Provide one-on-one consultation and group workshops as needed in order to train users on Ticketing System
Monitor the campus chatbot ‘Charlie Oredigger’ verifying information provided is correct; update as appropriate
Supervise the customization of the appearance and operation of the Learning Management System (currently Moodle, moving to Canvas in Fall 2024), including block settings, modules and options that are available, graphics and course templates
Test new releases and updates of Learning Management System
Stay abreast of new and upcoming features within the Learning Management System, Ticketing System (TeamDynamix), MS Access
Maintain, update and develop reports as needed
Ability to design, write and understand requirements for new software applications.
Ability to create Microsoft Access database applications according to user requests and thoroughly test outcomes
Investigate and find solutions to problems with inconsistencies within student services’ data
An in-depth knowledge of the Student Information System, BANNER and the data held within.
Maintain the SQL Server Data Warehouse.
Maintain the user security in SQL Server
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Collaborate with the Information Technology team and the Director of the Center for Academic Innovation regarding student support services.
Document all software applications/databases developed for campus use.
Assist the IT Help Desk and the rest of IT staff with issues pertaining to systems.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field OR 2 years of experience developing MS Access databases in a professional environment, OR 2 years of experience software programming in a professional environment
Ability to communication clearly verbally as well as in writing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
Proficiency using SQL Server & SSIS
Previous experience using Ellucian Banner
Previous supervisory experience
Experience with software applications (MS Access, MS Excel)
Knowledge of C# or Visual Basic
Knowledge of Windows batch scripting; file transfer tools (ie. putty, aws s3)
Knowledge of and use of/practice with:
Advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires the ability to operate typical office equipment (i.e. a computer, telephone, etc).
This position may be required to travel on occasion to attend meetings, professional conferences, or training sessions as necessary.
Expected to be in the office 40 hrs a week.
