Dow is looking for a Composition Specialist based inSão Paulo – SP (BRA).Under the guidance of the Composition Specialist Global Leader, is responsible for providing expertise to enable the creation, maintenance and update of EH&S compositional information of Dow products in Dow ERP system. The Composition Specialist will work at the interface between R&D (where product development scientists develops new formulations and/or applications) and the EH&S Product Stewardship function, which is responsible for ensuring that the products meet the regulatory requirements and that they are safe for the intended use.
Core Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Composition Specialist Leader and following a work progress defined by the Business Process Leader, the incumbent will be a member of a global team aimed at supporting Dow businesses in placing products in the market meeting the applicable jurisdictional product safety regulatory requirements.
In particular, the incumbent will perform the following duties:
Based on information provided by R&D, define the EH&S product composition(s) that will be used for regulatory compliance check and for generating material safety data sheets. This is done by using advanced IT tools (i.e. expert rules) and using product expertise to modify expert rule output as needed.
Execute defined work flow tasks aimed at executing chemical control law checks, loading product characterization other than composition(s) in the ERP system.
Create specifications in the ERP system corresponding to products and raw materials.
Perform product safety compliance assessment using advanced IT tools and product expertise.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or other related discipline is required.
Experience with formulations and compositions.
Fluent in English.
Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience is strongly preferred.
Experience with legal compositions under chemical regulatory frameworks such as REACh, TSCA and others is desired.
