This position is hybrid and remote eligible for up to 40% of the time. The office location for this position is at ESL Corporate Headquarters in Rochester, NY. Hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Must remain flexible to meet current and future business needs.

Starting Salary: $47.11 Pay Range: $47.11 - $52.51
Purpose of Position:
This position is accountable to support the Community Impact team in pursuit of ESL’s community impact goals. The Relationship Manager activities will include grant making, managing relationships with grantees and community partners, research and learning about priority areas of impact in our community, and related initiatives.
Accountabilities:
Serves as frontline for not-for-profit organizations including managing relationships with grantees and supporting grant decisions
Provides preliminary due diligence on organizations and potential applicants
Reviews, analyzes, and makes initial recommendations for grant proposals
Drafts Requests for proposals for priority impact area work
Communicates with nonprofits about programmatic requirements and fit
Tracks and reviews grant reports, communicates requirements to non-profits, provides updates to Executive Director and Board on grantees and impacts made
Provides input into board materials, strategic planning, reporting or other activities as needed to accomplish internal goals
Represents ESL at community events as needed
Manages special projects and programs as assigned
Develops and maintains a knowledge-base for the organizations, partnerships, and shared strategies in priority areas of community impact
Works with VP/Director of Community impact and Sr. Relationship managers to manage the feedback loop for learning from and contributions to community partnerships
Supports developing and maintains tools such as system maps, reports, etc. that support Community Impact team to understand the players, factors, and community priorities that can inform decision making
Presents summary information and reports to Director, team members and/or Foundation Board as needed
Works with Operations Administrator to insure accuracy and quality of reports on grant making for Executive Director and Board. Acts as primary backup for the Operations Administrator.
Engages in community partnership
Is assigned and backs up other team members in external collaborative participation where appropriate
Exemplifies and promotes best practices of community collaboration such as the five conditions of collective impact
Works with Community Impact team to incorporate ways to align activities to shared community strategies
Increases knowledge & skills to provide ever-increasing value to the Community Impact team
Seeks to be a subject matter expert on managing grantee relationships to support continuous improvement toward community impact goals
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business administration, non-profit management, public policy, sociology, economics, urban planning, labor studies, ethnic studies or related fields or 4 years of equivalent directly related experience required.
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in grant or relationship management, cross-sector community leadership, capacity building, advocacy, or strategic execution in the context of community impact in any of the following: philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, workforce development, non-profit management, human resources, community development public policy or other closely related field required
Experience building trust and relationships in racially diverse communities and with multiple sectors (business, non-profit, community/citizens, or government)
Experience with business communication written, oral, and presentations seeking approval from boards or committees
PC proficient (Word, Excel), adaptability to learn and operate grant management system
Demonstrates alignment with ESL’s Core Values, mission, vision, and Purpose to help our community thrive and prosper
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, urban planning, public policy, education, economics or related field is preferred
10 or more years experience in philanthropy or related field requiring relationship or grant management, cross-sector community leadership, non-profit capacity building, advocacy, or strategic execution for community impact.
Funder or backbone/intermediary organization leader in collective impact, or similar cross-sector collaborative community initiative
Capacity building, coaching and leadership development experience
Experience with program evaluation for learning and continuous improvement
Proven experience working with and building relationships with culturally specific organizations
Community organizing experience
Ability to process feedback and input from a variety of stakeholders and perspectives in order to build collaboration and advance goals
Understands how to frame and/or communicate data and stories to multiple audiences, including non-profits, businesses, policy makers, the public, and the media
Understands and knows how to work in complexity and affect change in systems (systems thinking)
Experience building buy-in and ownership among stakeholders from multiple sectors to advance community impact and equity goals
Trusted relationships with community organizations who serve black or Latino communities in greater Rochester
