  Job Description:

  This employee works as part of a team to assist with the functions of a multi-faceted community health child advocacy program. The Community Health Child Advocacy Coordinator is assigned to oversee specific projects as well as support responsibilities shared by members of the Community Health Children’s Health Team. The assignment may focus on local and or other regions outside of Utah.

  The Community Health Child Advocacy Department promotes Intermountain Children's Health’s interests in educating and bringing awareness to the public regarding health and safety matters pertaining to children as identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Health Implementation Plan. The efforts of this team may include involvement in community coalitions, public relations, community benefit, and outreach activities with internal and external stakeholders. Expected to be Certified as a Child Passenger Safety Technician or become one within three months of hire.

  Shift Details :  This position is expected to be onsite managing the daily operations of the Community Health Team at Primary Children’s Hospital-Lehi Miller Campus as outlined in the job description below. Standard business hours: Monday - Friday (9:00am - 5:00pm). Partially remote

  Department : Primary Children’s Hospital Lehi-Miller Campus will be the primary location, with some travel as needed to the Salt Lake campus for trainings and materials.

  Additional Details : Experience working in a fast-paced environment and can pivot easily between tasks. Organized and confident communicator. Compassionate and experience working with diverse communities. Spanish-speaking preferred.

  Coordinates projects to assist with child safety and health initiatives. Identifies budget & resource needs and adjusts timelines as necessary to achieve project objectives. Assists Community Health Managers, Program Managers and others in developing comprehensive business cases and scope documents for complex projects. May provide leadership in identifying, analyzing, managing, mitigating and resolving issues and risks (including dependencies) affecting projects. Communicates with key stakeholders, both internal and external, regarding projects. Coordinates reporting of status and outcomes to accurately reflect the activities. Performs research as requested. Analyzes and interprets facts/results using current methods and techniques. Prepares meaningful reports that are easily understand and actionable.

  Makes service a priority when interacting with the public and by improving processes and systems using customer expectations and feedback. Serves as a representative of the hospital and Child Advocacy Department in community coalitions. Maintains accurate records and reports accounting for work activities and assignments. Serves as a spokesperson on behalf of children's health, injury prevention and safety issues when assigned.

  Assists in the responsibilities of the Community Health Team in safe transportation (safety seats) of patients who are leaving Primary Children's Hospital, other hospitals and any child or family in need in the community. Travels within the hospital's service region to establish partnerships and collaborations to enhance the health and safety of children, occasionally working evening and weekends.

  Assists with community benefit initiatives as assigned. Helps to integrate Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) services into appropriate patient/caregiver workflows and into the electronic medical record for referral and documentation of services.

  Creates “community health worker” packets and talking points based on safety equipment, educational flyers, and swag items that align with Community Health priorities for CPSTs, internal and external stakeholders to use during visits with children/families and at community events. Picks up shifts as a CPST once per week or as negotiated with Supervisor. Supervises a team of Child Passenger Safety Technicians with guidance and support from other members of the team. Coordinates with volunteers, volunteer coordinators, community event organizers, community health manager and program managers, hospital staff and others around schedules and supplies for Emergency Food Pantries and community events associated with the CHNA/CHIP priorities for Children’s Health.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Experience in project management, community education, outreach, community benefit, or public relations activities with significant ownership of programs and projects.

  Writing skills that produce clear, accurate, and persuasive communications.

  Effective interpersonal skills, including relationship building and communication in-person, over the phone, and via email with diverse groups of people (e.g., volunteers, civic/business leaders, board members, patients and their families, hospital staff, foundations, corporations, etc.).

  Strong project management or event planning skills, demonstrating detail orientation, timeliness, and ability to work under pressure.

  Strong analytic and creative skills used to implement strategies for business needs, events, promotional materials, and prospecting.

  Demonstrated ability to lead others (volunteers, community members, etc.).

  Ability to motivate and educate audiences during presentations and one-on-one interactions.

  Ability to work independently with little supervision while balancing the need to provide key information and updates to leadership.

  Proficiency in using computer programs and databases and helping others use them.

  Expected to be a Child Passenger Safety Technician or become one within three months of hire.

  Preferred Qualifications

  Safe Travel for All within 12 months of hire.

  Bachelor's degree in Child Advocacy, Public or Community Health, Education, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or a related field.

  Five years of experience in project management, community education, outreach, community benefit, or public relations activities with significant ownership of programs and projects.

  Detail oriented with the ability to take a work in progress, join midstream, and see it to completion with direction and support from a highly engaged team of community health professionals.

  Physical Requirements:

  Carrying, Climbing, Hearing/listening, Lifting, Manual dexterity, Pulling/pushing, Seeing, Sitting, Speaking, Standing, Walking. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry car seats, and other supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess team members and customer needs.

  The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

  $21.65 - $32.99
