  The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for Full-time and Part-time Communications Training and Development Specialists to support our government customer located in Oahu, HI.

  Work sites/locations include on-site support at NCTF-RH offices, Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, nearby venues, and Honolulu offices. Periodic meetings shall occur throughout Oahu. There is no anticipated travel outside of Oahu.

  Normal business workdays are Monday through Friday during normal business hours, however, after hours support may be required at times. Facilitation, Training, CRI and Consent Order Public Meetings may occur outside of normal working hours.

  DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  Build on existing interpersonal skills to further address conflict resolution, trauma-informed communications, cultural awareness and government interactions.

  Conflict resolution training will focus on constructive methods of dealing with conflict in low-trust, high concern engagements.

  Trauma-informed communication will address methods and sensitivities for addressing members of the public who have been subject to traumatic events.

  Hawaiian cultural awareness is focused on communicating and awareness of native Hawaiian traditions, values with a focus on appropriate communication skills.

  Government interaction training is to focus on helping members of the public navigate the sometimes-opaque world of government with a focus on how to effectively communicate.

  Work collaboratively with the appointed community members and government personnel on training content/syllabus definition prior to development of the training course.

  Once training is developed trainers will deliver training.

  Temporary, Training Professional:

  Develop 2 course syllabi within the first 30 days of employment to cover two (2) topics/”courses: Conflict Resolution, AND Trauma-Informed Communication.

  Develop the training content and deliver multiple sessions for each of these “courses” as follows:

  Conflict Resolution – 3 sessions for up to 10 students, focused on government personnel. The first session to be delivered 3 months after employment begins with 2nd and 3rd sessions occurring 4 and 5 months (respectively) after employment commences. Followed by a 4th session dedicated to joint attendance from CRI members and NCTF-RH personnel up to 20 students to occur at a date to be determined (TBD).

  Trauma-informed communications – 2 sessions for up to 15 students focused on government personnel. The first session to be delivered 3 months after employment begins with 2nd occurring 4 months after employment begins.

  Temporary, Training Professionals (1 Hawaiian Cultural Awareness and 1 Government Interactions):

  Develop a course syllabus within the first 30 days of employment. Each trainer will cover one of the following two (2) topics/”courses”: Hawaiian Cultural Awareness, OR Interacting with the Government.

  Develop the training content and deliver multiple sessions for each of these “courses” as follows:

  Hawaiian Cultural Awareness – 4 sessions for up to 15 students, focused on government personnel. The first session is to be delivered 3 months after employment begins, with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th sessions occurring 4, 5, and 6 months (respectively) after employment commences.

  Interacting with the Government – 2 sessions for up to 10 students focused on CRI members. The first session to be delivered 3 months after employment begins with 2nd occurring 4 months after employment begins.

  REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  Completion of recognized training and development courses or possession of professional training certification(s).

  Bachelors degree in related field (may include communication, psychology, organizational behavior, cultural arts or studies,) preferred.

  REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  At least five (5) years of experience performing similar training and education duties in similarly complex environments.

  Experience training senior and executive leadership.

  Proven record of developing mutually agreeable outcomes and improving communications and perspectives.

  REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  Must be a U.S. Citizen

  Must have at a minimum a favorable National Agency Check (NAC).
