This position will provide business project management and coordination services for the Office for Equity and Inclusion (OEI) and Equity Directors. This work will be done through a lens that prioritizes equity and antiracism. As the Project Coordinator you will be responsible for project communication, managing teams, removing obstacles, facilitating prioritization within a project, escalating issues, and motivating team members.
The incumbent will actively lead work plan development and support implementation. They will advise management on the ways this work interacts with numerous other complex systems. The position has the authority to represent OEI and Equity Directors in the areas included in the position description at meetings with other staff to ensure adequate information regarding development work it oversees and its implications for internal and external stakeholders.
Some responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Serve as the business project coordinator of a portfolio of OEI and Equity Director projects. Lead various levels of staff in the design, development, and implementation of small to large and/or complex business processes, development, and analysis of performance measures across projects/programs and associated data areas, performance, and communication planning, planning for implementing technology solutions, and working with others to coordinate project standards and work.
Serve as a member of Chief Equity Officer’s senior management teams and provide strategic advice to DHS’s senior leadership on external communication needs.
Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years professional experience managing internal and external organizational communications.
Experience must clearly demonstrate:
Understanding of principles of project management to track and present results.
Practical experience in the public relations and/or communication field.
Experience creating communications strategies with equity lens focus and build support for proposals.
Knowledge of ADA compliance, content accessibility, privacy, and government data practices laws.
*Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or another closely related fields may substitute for one (1) year of work experience.
Master’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or another closely related fields may substitute for two (2) years of work experience.**
Preferred Qualifications
Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP).
Passion for monitoring trends in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion-Antiracism.
Knowledgeable of DHS communications protocols, channels of communication and policies.
Strong human relations and communication skills; communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing; respond openly to requests and concerns.

Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check will be conducted on all finalists for this position. Finalists must pass the DHS background check.
