This position operates the hospital telephone system console to facilitate communication between employees, providers, patients, and other calls. Performs non-sworn police work and supports hospital police/security officers by answering and dispatching emergent and non-emergent calls, monitoring alarm systems.

Performs activities involved in the dispatching of police/security, prioritizing multiple phone lines including codes and emergency calls.Answers all internal and external incoming calls to the hospital switchboard.Announces all codes on campus and efficiently notifies the appropriate emergency responders.Contacts on call providers for staff in accordance with the provider's chosen method of contact.Maintains accurate logs of calls.Maintains current schedules for providers. Documents all changes and appropriately disseminates information.Monitors the fire alarm, video surveillance, panic alarms, keyless door system alarms, medical gas alarms, equipment alarms, egress alarms, and generator alarms. Promptly notifies responders and documents alarms.Activates emergency lockdown as required.Makes overhead pages for codes and other emergencies in accordance with policy.Contact supporting agencies as necessary.Assists visitors and patients in person at the hospital police/security office. Registers patients' visitors after hours.Issue access badges and unlock doors and distributes call room keys.Maintains and monitors the key control system to ensure the integrity of the system and the timely access to rooms by authorized hospital personnel.Maintain competency of back-up systems.Performs clerical work and other duties as assigned.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
