　　POSITION SUMMARY

　　Drives a solid waste truck and collects refuse (i.e., household, bulk or recycling) on designated City routes.

　　Department: Public Works

　　Salary: $22.86 per hour.

　　Union: This position is included in the Teamsters Local Union 249 bargaining unit and will be filled in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

　　A current, valid Commercial Class A or B Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Operator's License with the "L" airbrake restriction lifted from the license is required at the time of submitting the application. 　　POSITION DUTIES

　　Drives a solid waste truck, collects refuse (i.e., household, bulk or recycling) and empties containers on designated City routes.

　　Carries, lifts and loads solid waste (weighing up to 75 to 100 lbs.) into truck daily.

　　May drive to and from landfill and on route.

　　Replaces refuse containers; ensures that surrounding area is clean.

　　Performs daily pre and post inspection of vehicle (at beginning and end of routes), and reports malfunctions and maintenance needs.

　　Checks and monitors oil, water, gas, tire condition, etc.

　　Requests periodic maintenance on vehicle.

　　Maintains accurate records for equipment and work routes.

　　Cleans and maintains cab area of truck, ejection blade and sweeper.

　　Observes proper safety precautions in the operation of the truck's hydraulic and packing system.

　　Receives complaints from residents and refers the complaints to assigned foreman/supervisor.

　　Performs activities and functions of related lower-level personnel and other related tasks/duties as required.
