Job Summary:
The Coding Denial Coordinator is responsible, along with the Assistant Director and Associate Director, for coordinating workflows and assignment of denials to the denials team in Health Information Management. They must assure that denial appeals are completed in an accurate and timely manner and that all required information for the NYS DOH, DNV, HCFA and other regulatory agencies is accurately represented. The Coding Denial Coordinator will be a subject matter expert for the Denial Coding Team, responsible for training and coaching new denial team members, and an active participant in meetings relevant to ensuring compliant processing of all denials timely. Duties include maintaining consistent daily workflow; creating efficiency, improving process, identifying and implementing best practices, leading or participating in the development of appropriate workflows, processes, and training materials. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Health Information Technology with five (5) years experience in Health Information Management OR Bachelors Degree in Health Information Technology with three (3) years experience in Health Information Management required. Must have at least two (2) years experience in a supervisory/leadership capacity and at least (3) years Denial Experience. Must have a current Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification from American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Health Information Technology and RHIA preferred.
