DescriptionThis position is responsible for the auditing, monitoring and education of the employed providers and staff of University Hospitals. Based on needed services as determined by the Director, it is anticipated that this position will provide documentation and coding reviews approximately 50% of the time. The balance of time (50%) will be spent providing coding education.What you will doResponsible for providing documentation and coding reviews for providers for the purposes of New Provider reviews, Demand reviews, reviews associated with Risk-based analysis, specialty-specific reviews and other reviews to be assigned.Responsible for providing documentation and coding reviews as a primary function.Responsible for being receptive to training to provide documentation and coding education for topics presented by personnel from this department.Responsible for assisting in the development of professional coding and documentation education programs for University Hospitals employed providers and staff including, but not limited to, Evaluation and Management Coding, Specialty Coding (surgical and procedural), Compliance Risks associated with coding and documentation, optimization of revenue, communication of governmental and commercial payer updates.Responsible for assisting with the development of the educational content for programs listed above working with the Sr. Coding Compliance & Education Specialists and the Director of Provider Compliance.Assists in identifying areas of coding and documentation risk, develop appropriate education to address these issues and communicates this education to providers, staff and management as appropriate.Responsible to be receptive to education, training and mentoring by Sr. Coding Compliance & Education Specialist personnel and the Director of Provider Compliance.Responsible to assist in the education, training and mentoring of Coding Compliance & Education Specialist personnel.May perform research for questions submitted through Ask A Coder and the Coding Connection website (or through other mechanisms).May assist in the research and development of articles for internal publication through the Coding Connection website.Assists in the provision of data compilation and analysis of coding patterns to providers on an as needed basis.Attends continuing education session to remain current with updates on coding and billing guidelines including but not limited to CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM and CMS.Responsible for assisting with research on areas of documentation and coding requiring extensive research of regulations, publications and manuals to determine appropriate application.Responsible for periodic review of Coding Compliance and Education Department policies and procedures.Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations governing coding, documentation and reimbursement guidelines.Performs other duties as assigned.Equal Opportunity Employer -- minorities/females/veterans/individuals with disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity
