A Snapshot of Your Day
Machinists begin their days normally working40-hour week Monday - Thursday nights. Once clocked in they put on designatedsafety gear. After completing these tasks, the machinist will look over theirjob assignments for the day, ensuring materials, tools and traceabilityrequirements have all been reviewed and are available before starting work.
The daily tasks may vary considerably from oneday to another. They may include things like:
· Set up and operate the 6-meter & 8-meter CNC VerticalTurn/Mill machines: VTL/ VBM (840D controls)
· Set up machines by installing components, tooling,programs and adjusting machine settings.
· Perform various turning, drilling and millingoperations on a variety of components.
· Load/unload components from machines and assistcrane operations.
· Cross training on other CNC VBM’s as required tosupport area workload.
· Reading and interpreting blueprints or computer-aided design (CAD) (https://surehand.com/blog/inspection/cad-operator-jobs/) files
· Operating a computer to retrieve, record and readproduct data and instructions
· Calculating dimensions and tolerances withspecialized precision measuring tools
· Setting up, operating, and disassembling bothmanual and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines
· Measuring and testing finished products to verifytheir quality
· Cleaning, deburring finished work products
· Operating cranes to move product

What You Bring
· Like working with your hands and have a greatattention to detail
· Analytical person who is mechanically mindedwith strong math and communication skills
· Possess strong attention to detail,
· Ability to work autonomously andindependently, excel at following directions, and have a grasp of computers
· Experience adjusting machine feeds and speeds,changing cutting tools and adjusting machine controls as needed to ensure finalproduct outcome according to blueprint specifications.
· Havea strong understanding of G-Code & M-Code programming language
· Preferred: Siemens 840D controls knowledge
