SUMMARY
The CNC Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with Production Management to gain feedback and suggestions toward continual improvements for production processes, CNC machining operations and will assist in the development and maintenance of manufacturing quality assurance.
ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Implement manufacturing related Engineering Changes and process documentation edits.
Maintain the Preventive Maintenance and Calibration systems.
Facilitate the document control process including upkeep of appropriate records for changes as well as maintaining approved documentation.
Assist in the development and maintenance of manufacturing, quality assurance and packaging instructions and the fixturing and processes necessary to support them.
Process prints red marks and assist Production with processing of labor, BOM or other non-print red marks.
Design and introduce equipment to error proof and/or automate processes.
Perform process and equipment validations in conjunction with Engineering and Quality.
Assist with the introduction of, and training for, new prints, processes, and instructions.
Support new product development projects by providing manufacturing feasibility and definition.
Deliver clear and concise written and verbal communication to management, other team members and end users.
Develop, write, test (simulates), correct and optimize CNC programs of numeric controlled tooling machinery, primarily HBMs by using CAD/CAM technology and methodology.
Check completed programs by running simulations in CAM or tests on CIMCO.
Develop, determine, and describe the setups of the tooling machines (how to position and fix the workpiece and the tool in relation to the machine axes).
Review drawing and other Design Engineering Documentation with respect to feasibility and resolve manufacturing machining plan and communicate plan to appropriate Value Stream Manager.
Provide up-to-date CNC programs, posted code (manuscript), set-up documentation, and tooling information (tool list, tool offset values, etc. for CNC machined operations.
Design and manufacture tools/fixtures to be used in product manufacturing.
Lead a Manufacturing team for successful execution of a product through the shop (both preparedness and in process support of shop floor execution).
Support product quality and improvements to minimize non-conformances (both proactive and reactive).
QualificationsEXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
At least 8+ years of Manufacturing Experience
Associate degree in manufacturing or engineering related concentration with at least 8 in a machine shop environment while possessing intimate proven understanding of manual machine methods (tool selection, speeds, feeds, HP)
It is important to understand the impact of programmed toolpath, therefore proven experience machining parts from start to finish using manual turning and milling operations highly desirable.
Specific knowledge and experience in CAD/CAM technology and methodology either Mastercam, Cam Works, or SolidWorks CAM
Experience with Fanuc Controllers, MAZAK Controllers, and knowledge of MAZATROL is a plus.
Experience working closely with shop floor personnel to solve issues (tooling, machines, etc. as they arise.
Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Experience implementing and/or improving manufacturing processes, information, facilities, and production planning in a shop environment.
Ability to lead / interact with teams to obtain consensus in developing processes and standardizing information flow.
Must network with cross-functional process owners and power users to build buy-in for change management activities.
