  Job Summary

  This position is for our Varsity camp, campers ages 12-14. May require occasional work with Junior Varsity campers (10-11) and Club U (5-9).

  This year our Varsity camp is getting some big changes! There will be 3 focused sessions specializing in:

  STEAM - Activities will include science, technology, and art!

  Adventure- Activities include rafting, rock climbing, hiking and more!

  Expression- Activities include painting, ceramics, and movement inspired field trips like KTR !

  The remaining weeks are single sessions featuring classic camp field trips and activities.

  Participate and lead Varsity campers in exciting journeys of educational exploration with hands on learning, fun community interactions, amazing field trips and more!

  Not only will you be making many new friends across our diverse staff, you will also acquire and strengthen your skillsets in LEADERSHIP , COMMUNICATION , PROBLEM SOLVING , PRIORITIZATION , RISK MANAGEMENT , AND MORE !   Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their camper group within activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.

  i. Assures campers are properly supervised at all times.

  ii. Apply basic youth development principles such as relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement and empowerment of youth while working with campers.

  2. Develop and implement activities for campers in accordance with the camp mission.

  3. Maintain high standards of health and safety for campers and staff.

  i. Provide care for each camper within your supervision, including recognition of ones own personal health needs.

  ii. Be alert to campers and staff needs and assist them with personal and/or health problems; discuss with camp director when appropriate.

  4. Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.

  i. Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.

  5. Represent the camp when interacting with parents or community members.

  i. Provide parents appropriate feedback and information as needed for their campers to have a successful camp experience.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Three years experience as a classroom assistant in a related academic area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); knowledge and understanding of a variety of teaching methods in order to adjust activities/training session to include participants of different ages; a thorough knowledge of related academic subjects in order to participate in developing classroom activities/programs; and demonstrated knowledge of teaching methods and communication skills to conduct educational activities and/or training sessions in a clear and concise manner required. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required.
