  Job Summary

  To further the mission of the Club U Summer Camp Varsity program (12-14 year olds) through the planning and delivery of program activities and events. Design and deliver program activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities. Assist in the management of the overall camp operation at the direction of the camp director.

  This is a leadership position that oversees camp counselors, schedules classes with various partners/companies, and engages with parents regarding camper behavior.

  Responsibilities

  ­Experience in the development and delivery of programs and/or working with youth­Comfortable making frequent phone calls and emails to camp partners­Current certification in first aid and CPR or the ability to become certified before camp begins. We will pay for your certification.­Valid drivers’ licenseJob Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver a fun program to campers.

  ­ Ensure lesson plans are prepared and implemented that meet camp outcomes and the abilities of the campers.

  ­ Evaluate the success of the program and the development of the campers’ abilities and skills in various program activities.

  ­ Coordinate all camp program activities with other staff.

  2. Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures during camp programs.

  ­ Assist in the implementation of staff training.

  ­ Provide guidelines for programs utilizing camp equipment.

  3. Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas.

  ­ Oversee daily checks of area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.

  4. Supervise and evaluate counselors to develop and implement all facets of camp program activities

  ­ Regularly monitor work of counselors and provide feedback.

  ­ Provide recommendations and concerns to camp director regarding counselors’ performances.

  5. Develop and implement schedules and records for all areas of camp program and facilities.

  ­ Assist in creating camper and group program and activity schedules.

  ­ Supervise staff schedule for programs and activities.

  Other Job Duties:

  ­Attend administrative staff meetings when necessary.Maintain clear and positive written and verbal communication with all camp staff.­Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, providing support and guidance to those assigned as leaders.­Provide ongoing program ideas to counseling and activity area staff.

  ­Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff.

  ­Ability to observe camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.­Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.­Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.This job description is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications required of employees assigned to the job.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Three years experience as a classroom assistant in a related academic area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); knowledge and understanding of a variety of teaching methods in order to adjust activities/training session to include participants of different ages; a thorough knowledge of related academic subjects in order to participate in developing classroom activities/programs; and demonstrated knowledge of teaching methods and communication skills to conduct educational activities and/or training sessions in a clear and concise manner required. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required.

  Preferences

  Experience with programming in a camp or youth setting.At least 2 years of college or preferably college graduate.Emotionally mature and willing to accept responsibility.Special Instructions Summary
