Mines club sport coaches promote the philosophy and objectives of the clubsport and rec sport program and adhere to and enforce all departmentalpolicies and procedures, as well as rules and regulations of the university.Colorado School of Mines Club Sports strives to engineer excellence in all wedo. With 19 clubs and nearly 600 student athletes, the Club Sport program isas diverse as it is robust. Club Sports are perennial national contendershaving produced several national champions as well as many regional and leaguechampionships. Club Sports provide excellent facilities and support includingdedicated athletic trainers and strength and conditioning coaching creating awelcoming environment for coaches to focus on coaching and instruction.
Coaches are responsible for creating and implementing practice plans and gameplans as well as the skill development of each student athlete in the club.The coach will also help students develop a healthy competitive nature,teach and demonstrate ethical behavior and good sportsmanship, and assist inthe development of leadership skills. Clubs are first and foremost studentorganizations, thus the internal organization, management and decisionmaking of the club must be left to the club officers, members, and clubsport council. All coaches are considered a "Campus Security Authority"and are thus responsible and required to report any first-hand accounts orincidents of Mines student-involved harassment, sexual misconduct, sexualharassment, or sexual violence.The club sport season runs throughout the academic year (fall and springsemester). Practices generally occur during the week (lateafternoon/early evening) with competitions occurring on weekends againstlocal and regional colleges and universities. As a result, coach candidatesmust be willing and able to work evenings and weekends.
ResponsibilitiesAdhere to the policies and procedures of club sports and Colorado School ofMinesAttend as many practices and games as possibleAssist with tracking Physical Activity (PA) credit & proctoring examsPromote and ensure the safety of the team and condition/operation ofcorresponding facilitiesStructure and plan practices and training sessionsDevelop and implement team game plan and communicate this plan to the playersDevelop each player's potential and encourage excellence in execution andperformanceProvide positive feedback and post-game analysis to the playersContribute to the recruitment and retention of playersProvide leadership and guidance to build and sustain team moralePartner with student club officers on any other or necessary administration ofrunning the club
Positions Available and SalaryBaseball: Head Coach ($200 per month)
Minimum QualificationsHigh School DiplomaAdvanced knowledge and experience in [SPORT]Two or more years of [SPORT] coaching experience with postsecondary age(or older) athletes (e.g. High School, Club, Select, Travel, etc.)Ability to work independentlyExcellent organization, leadership and communication skills, including butnot limited to written, oral and interpersonal skills and computer literacyGood judgment and decision-making abilitiesStrong conflict resolution and service orientationAbility to function in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changingprioritiesA valid driver's license that is maintained throughout the duration ofemploymentCurrent First Aid/CPR/AED certifications, or willingness and ability toobtain within one month of hire
Preferred QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or related fieldCoaching certification(s) in BaseballExperience coaching Baseball at the collegiate level
