Work where every moment matters. Every day, over 30,000 Hartford HealthCare colleagues come to work with one thing in common: Pride in what we do, knowing every moment matters here. We invite you to become part of Connecticut’s most comprehensive healthcare network. The Institute of Living, one of the first mental health centers in the U.S., remains one of America’s leading not-for-profit centers for patient care, research and education in the fields of behavioral, psychiatric and addiction disorder. Through our dedicated, experienced and skilled clinicians, we provide patients and their families with the highest quality of personalized care. Programs are offered for children, adolescents and adults struggling with mental illness as well as offering services specializing in Anxiety, Eating Disorders, and Geriatric Services. Job Summary The Advanced Services for Adolescent with Psychosis (ASAP) Intensive Outpatient Program is the only program of its kind in the country. With a focus on clinical care, the program provides specialized services for youth ages 13 to 18 (18 if still in high school) who are experiencing psychosis. The program serves youth who are experiencing symptoms related to clinical high-risk states, first episode psychosis, or early onset Schizophrenia. The program is designed to work with youth and families who are help seeking. Unlike most IOPs, the program works with youth and families for 4-6 months with a goal to reduce symptoms identified by the youth and improve functioning. The program works with youth and families to set treatment goals collaboratively and provides familial support more often than a typical IOP. Through group programming, youth can obtain a variety of skills specific to assist them with symptoms of psychosis and improve functioning in an environment with peers, providing prosocial experiences, a significant protective factor for youth experiencing psychosis. The program works collaboratively with the family of the youth, providing support and family sessions throughout the course of treatment. This program works with complex cases that are transitioning from a higher level of care or a preventative treatment to support youth from hospitalization. The program is looking for a clinical coordinator who has experience in group psychotherapy, individual, and family work. While the program is designed to treat psychosis, a deep understanding of child development is required. The role includes consistent collaboration with the treatment team leader who is a board certified child and adolescent psychiatrist who also provides medical oversight as well as a case worker. The program is a member of an international consortium to identify the impact of psychosis on adolescents. The clinical coordinator will lead in recruitment of participants in the study. The program works collaboratively with the Olin Neuropsychiatric Center who assists in providing specialized early psychosis screens to assist with diagnostic clarification. Additionally, the Olin research team provides cognitive remediation for youth to assist with mental flexibility skills to reduce the impact of psychosis symptoms. The clinical coordinator will need to understand insurance approval and reviews, assist with transition to lower levels of care, and complete thorough documentation. Experience with crisis management, high levels of care and acuity as well as serious mental illness is preferred. Opportunities for ongoing training in family work, group processing, trauma informed care and weekly educational Grand Rounds are available. Job Responsibilities 1. Conduct initial clinical assessments of patients and families to determine group appropriateness. 2. Lead process and skill groups, family therapy sessions and individual check ins for children and adolescents and their families. 3.
