Overview
Performs clerical electronic medical record functions for a provider in a clinic setting, including primary responsibility for the operation and documentation within the electronic medical record. The primary goal is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the provider. This position does not have direct involvement in patient care.
Responsibilities
Accurately and thoroughly document office visits and procedures as they are being performed by the provider, including but not limited to:
Patient history and physical exam
Procedures and treatments performed by providers and nurses
Patient education and explanations of risks and benefits,
Provider-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient or family members for self-care and follow-up
Takes and loads photos into the EMR, as instructed by the clinical team.
Schedules reminder appointments for patients, as applicable.
Prints and delivers AVS to patients.
Makes follow up calls to check in on patients per providers’ request.
Conducts professional, non-intrusive interaction with patients.
Maintains compliance with hospital and clinic policies.
Conducts training for new Clinical Scribes.
Oversees and maintains templates for clinical team, which may involve creating new templates, updating current templates, sharing templates with new staff, etc.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
High School or equivalent required.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to learn and use all functions of electronic medical record software
Proficient typing skills
Proficient in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and oral communication
Must be able to listen to complex medical information and summarize in a clear, complete, and concise fashion
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
Ability to refer to reference materials to solve problems
Ability to multitask with high attention to detail and trustworthiness
