Job Summary:
The Clinical Research Nurse plays a pivotal role in advancing healthcare through the execution of clinical research trials focused on drug, device, and immunotherapy infusion interventions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Work closely with physicians and the research team to identify and screen potential patients for clinical trial participation
Present trial concepts and details to urology patients while conducting the informed consent process
Work directly with patients to screen, consent, take history, complete necessary exams including EKG, blood draw, vitals, etc.
Communicate with and support patients and their families as necessary
Assess patients for adverse events and/or changes in conditions
Provide staff and patients education regarding the management and administration of investigational product
Educate research participants and caregivers on protocol lifestyle requirements, treatment delivery methods, potential side effects, and symptom management
Ensure accurate and timely documentation and data entry to meet trial requirements
Serve as a liaison between clinic and infusion departments to ensure proper trial conduct and eliminate barriers to efficiently deliver patient care
Attends staff meetings, clinical meetings, and training in-services as scheduled and required
Uphold a high standard of professionalism, fostering positive relationships with both patients and colleagues
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) and Corporate Compliance Guidelines
Assist with other duties assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
Graduate from an accredited program for nursing education (BSN preferred)
Current licensure as a Registered Nursing (RN) in the State of Texas
Minimum 3 years RN experience preferred
Demonstrate successful IV starts
OCN Certification preferred
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
ACLS Certification preferred
Experience in clinical research preferred
CCRC or CCRP certification preferred
Experience in the care of oncology patients
Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Demonstrate a strong commitment to streamlining procedures and implementing best practices to achieve organizational goals
Demonstrate the ability to successfully oversee complex trials
Effective time management and the ability to prioritize work
Proficiency in computer software use, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems, Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS), and Practice Management Systems
