rrPosition Summary:
r This full-time, clinical faculty, non-tenure track assistant professorin Mechanical Engineering will have an appointment of 85% teaching, 5%scholarship and creative activity, 5% outreach and extension, and 5%service. The position is available for the academic year 2024/25, and itcan be renewed contingent on performance and availability of funds. Theposition will reside in Mechanical Engineering, and the successful hirewill also work closely with the College of Engineering on courseofferings.Teaching assignments may include lower- and upper-divisioncourses in mechanical engineering and will consider the expertise of thesuccessful candidate and the needs of the department. Other teachingneeds may arise, such as technical elective courses at the seniorundergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to teaching, thesuccessful candidate will be involved in advising and mentoring studentsand participating in department service and leadership.
rrMinimum Qualifications:
r
M.S. in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.Experience teaching mechanical engineering at the college level.Experience communicating orally and in writing to a range ofaudiences.Experience working collaboratively in a team environment.rrPreferred Qualifications:
r
Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer license within 5 years.Previous experience teaching mechanical engineering courses.Ability to teach hands-on laboratory courses with team projectassignments.Expertise in engineering systems (dynamics, controls, vibrations,mechatronics, thermal, fluids.)Expertise in engineering design (mechanics, team-based, numerical,computer-aided.)Ability to develop and teach upper-level undergraduate and graduatecourses.Experience with collaborative teaching efforts.Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion inengineering.rrPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions:
