Clinical Educator, RN
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the CNO, the Clinical Educator will coordinate and provide staff development activities including in-services and continuing education; facilitate groups and process improvement initiatives based upon identified needs; and assist with the orientation of all medical center personnel. This position has no first‑line supervisory responsibility.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
Links the mission, vision, values and employee expectations (culture) of the Medical Center with all human performance improvement activities.
Works effectively with others to achieve common goals and exercises effective interpersonal influence.
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates staff development and educational programs designed to meet the varied and specific needs of the Medical Center staff.
Plans, coordinates and implements orientation for all levels of personnel in conjunction with Human Resources.
Facilitates skill training and competency assessment based on identified needs.
Participates in and supports the implementation of the Patient Education Program.
Acts as a resource for staff development, especially as it relates to program development, educational practices, and competency assessment.
Addresses the individual learning needs of training participants and applies adult learning principles.
Acts as a resource and participates in Organizational Improvement activities.
Acts as a liaison between departments in interpreting policies, standards, and coordinating appropriate services.
Facilitates groups utilizing appropriate meeting management and team building techniques.
Actively participates in committees and meetings as assigned.
Participates in professional meetings/organizations and continuing education pertinent to own area of interest.
Assists in developing organizational systems that increase the overall effectiveness of the Medical Center.
Assists in the preparation of educational activities including but not limited to, developing brochures, recording registrations, arranging for rooms and refreshments, rosters, certificates, and other needs as requested.
Provides appropriate educational activities to the public.
Role models service excellence at all times.
Provides appropriate educational training needs driven by department specific needs and JCAHO
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position is generally scheduled Mon-Fri, 40 hours per week
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field or ASN with 2 years experience as a clinical program educator. Will complete Bachelor degree within established time frame.
5 years clinical experience.
Current IA RN license.
Competent in basic computer skills (Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Power Point).
Willingness to pursue ongoing traditional and non-traditional educational / training opportunities.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments/projects.
Self-directed and requires minimal supervision in fulfilling the job requirements.
Ability to consistently meet the department work schedule as designated.
Ability to exhibit and teach basic computer skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with others.
Demonstrated experience in adult education and training with the ability to make presentations to large groups of people.
