  This position may work closely with the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) which is a multi-technology office responsible for overseeing more than $27B of investment in large scale demonstrations in emerging technologies such as clean hydrogen, carbon capture, advanced nuclear reactors, grid-scale energy storage, industrial emissions reductions as well as demonstrations in rural and socioeconomically disadvantaged regions.

  This position is remote, with the expectation that candidates can work during Eastern Time Zone office hours. Residency in the United States is a mandatory requirement.

  Job Responsibilities:

  Conduct independent engineering / due diligence technical advisory reviews of the civil and structural design of infrastructure supporting clean energy projects

  Able to evaluate the design and expected or actual functionality and performance of civil and structural infrastructures

  Identify key gaps / needs as it relates to the functionality and performance of civil and structural infrastructures

  Identify project risks and risks mitigants of civil and structural infrastructures

  Articulate recommendations for improvement (when necessary)

  Work in teams and independently to provide engineering expertise on various civil and structural infrastructures

  Draft independent engineering / due diligence reports on evaluated civil and structural infrastructures

  Able to draft a data table and risk table (as part of an independent engineering / due diligence report or otherwise)

  Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication – communicating succinctly and clearly

  Liaise with a variety of stakeholders when providing engineering expertise (e.g., clients, technology and design providers, other engineering disciplines.)

  Conduct independent engineering / due diligence reports on civil and structural infrastructures

  Able to evaluate the design, functionality, and/or performance of civil and structural infrastructures (as it relates to project needs)

  Identify key gaps / needs as it relates to the civil and structural design, functionality, and/or performance of project infrastructures

  Articulate recommendations for improvement (when necessary)

  Qualifications:

  This position is remote, with the expectation that candidates can work during Eastern Time Zone office hours. Residency in the United States is a mandatory requirement

  Masters Degree in structural engineering is required

  Background in energy and power or similar industrial projects, including construction, foundations and piles, geotechnical and groundwater reports, building structures, structural steel systems, heavy equipment foundations, heavy steel flues and ductwork, related structural needs (e.g., structures and roadways), thermal expansion, and heavy-duty pipelines

  Experience providing independent engineering, technical advisory, or due diligence

  Minimum of 10 years’ experience practicing in this field, preferably as an engineer-of-record

  A licensed professional engineer (P.E.) is required

  Ability to review related contracts, such as engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts is a plus

  Ability to manage projects is preferred

  Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required
