Job Summary
POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Civil Designer to work in the Power Delivery Substation Department. This position reports to our Portland office (located in Lake Oswego, Oregon) with the ability to work remotely from any mutually acceptable location.
Roles and Responsibilities
The position involves drafting and design opportunities on substation projects that include civil site development and structural detailing.
The successful candidate will be responsible for learning, understanding, and implementing CAD knowledge and assisting others with understanding and following standards; learn client standards, practices, and procedures to ensure that work produced conforms to the client's standards and expectations; be responsible for knowing and following POWER's standards, procedures, and processes; collaborate on design issues; seek guidance from those with more experience; and mentor/direct those with less experience.
Required Education/Experience
Associates degree in drafting (or equivalent technical degree).
AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation OpenRoads (InRoads) experience including the ability to:
Model an existing surface from survey data
Model proposed Grading using feature lines and grading tools
Model road designs using alignments and corridors
Site development experience, including ability to create grading plans and details, erosion control design and site survey coordinate systems.
The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with other team members.
Candidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
Desired Education/Experience
10+ years drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
Substation project experience.
Knowledge of industry standard concrete, rebar and structural steel detailing practices.
Ability to create steel and foundation plans, sections and elevations.
