  Reporting to and under the leadership of a new Dean, or designee, the Chief Marketing Officer will spearhead strategic initiatives designed to drive enrollment growth and enhance the visibility of CUNY SPS online adult-focused programs. As the key architect of our marketing and communications strategy, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the narrative of our institution and promoting our online academic offerings to increase adult student enrollment. Core responsibilities include:

  Create and execute marketing plans to drive enrollment across all academic programs; analyze market trends, conduct competitor analysis, and identify opportunities to increase adult online student enrollment.

  Collaborate with enrollment management and academic partners to create and tailor marketing strategies to specific enrollment targets and contribute to overall online, adult learner enrollment growth.

  Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communication strategies aligned with the institution's goals and values; collaborate with senior leadership to define key messaging and positioning for the institution.

  Uphold and enhance the institution's brand image through consistent messaging and visual identity; ensure all marketing materials align with the institution's brand guidelines.

  Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets and key stakeholders to enhance the institution's public profile; respond effectively to media inquiries and manage crisis communications.

  Act as a spokesperson for the School and serve as the primary media contact; cultivate and maintain positive relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets.

  Lead digital and other marketing efforts, including social media, SEO, content marketing, programmatic marketing, and email campaigns to reach target adult student audiences effectively; utilize analytics tools to assess the performance of marketing campaigns and make data-driven decisions.

  Oversee sps.cuny.edu as the School's website owner, developing and implementing a strategic plan that incorporates a continuous cycle of improvement for the site's operational practices, processes and systems.

  Oversee internal communication efforts to ensure staff, faculty and students are well-informed about institutional initiatives, achievements and news; implement strategies to enhance internal communication channels and employee engagement; develop and deploy crisis communication plans.

  Manage the marketing and communications budget effectively, optimizing resources for maximum impact.

  Fulfill other leadership responsibilities, management duties and projects, as assigned by Dean.

  NOTE:

  • Until further notice, work will be performed in a hybrid manner with 70% onsite presence.

  QUALIFICATIONS

  This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.

  The preferred candidate will be a visionary leader with a demonstrated record of leading and inspiring high-performing teams whose goal is to strategically increase adult learner enrollment in online programs, delivering compelling promotional campaigns and empowering managers to excel in their roles and contribute to the collective success of the institution. With a strategic mindset, this individual will have a proven track record of developing and executing plans that achieve robust adult and nontraditional student enrollment in online programs.

  The preferred candidate will also have an exceptional ability to navigate complex organizational structuresand drive change and online program growth.

  Specific experience and attributes will include:

  Master's degree from an accredited university in a related field.

  Minimum of ten (10) years of experience, achievement and innovation in online and adult-learner higher education marketing and communications.

  Proven experience in developing and implementing digital marketing approaches and strategies that promote and lead to continuous online enrollment growth.

  Deep understanding of the current higher education landscape and enrollment trends, especially as it pertains to online learning and adult student populations, and that has translated in to successful marketing strategies.

  Skill in working in a data-driven environment and in using data to inform successful marketing and recruitment strategies.

  Excellent leadership skills and ability to communicate diplomatically across broad constituencies.

  Demonstrated experience in organizing, developing, and implementing operational systems in a university setting and managing a high-volume workflow office.

  Demonstrated knowledge of principles and processes for delivering class-leading customer service levels.

  COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  Salary range of $140,000 - $150,000 commensurate with education and experience.
