The Chemotherapy Pharmacy Technician ensures that all medications are correctly prepared and labeled under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The technician prepares medications according to departmental procedures, including the preparation of high-risk and hazardous chemotherapy drugs prepared in biological safety cabinets or compounding aseptic containment isolators. The technician ensures proper distribution of medications within the oncology clinic or other locations and expiration date management of drugs. The technician is responsible for cleaning, aseptic preparation and decontamination of hazardous medication locations pursuant to policies. Responsibilities include cross-training and cross-staffing at the Outpatient Cancer Center on the Pinehurst campus to ensure consistency of services. Qualifications: High School graduate or completion of GED required. Pharmacy Technician certification is required. Three years hospital experience preferred.
