A Chemist is needed for a company that manufactures, sells, and markets non-alcoholic beverage concentrates and syrups in the Atlanta, GA area. This position entails conducting complex chemical analyses, maintaining lab equipment, ensuring process conformance, and performing data audits, requiring expertise in advanced analytical chemistry and knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry for a beverage company.

responsibilities:
Perform complex chemical analysis on raw ingredients, intermediates, beverage parts, final products, auxiliary materials, and water.
Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation through troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, calibration, and repairs.
Conduct inspections of the laboratory and laboratory procedures to ensure conformance to internal (e.g., company Quality System) or external certification requirements.
Correct or eliminate process-related non-conformance items identified during inspections.
Dispose of expired retained samples and chemicals according to schedules and expiration dates to ensure cleanliness and safety in the lab area.
Develop or validate laboratory test methods and equipment, including sampling, monitoring, and analytical procedures, to ensure the reliability and accuracy of analytical results.
Perform capability studies as needed.
Conduct data audits to ensure accuracy of data and analytical processes, including database queries, statistical process control, or correlation studies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
Advanced Analytical Chemistry: Expert ability to integrate analytical chemistry techniques (e.g., GC, GC/MS, and MS) and them to a broad range of problems.
General knowledge of the organic chemistry of essential oils and other flavor compounds relevant to Company products.
Knowledge of data in the Formula Management System, including reasonable value ranges, calculations, and the ability to recognize inconsistencies.
Ability to enter formulas or other information into the system and generate reports.
General knowledge of the composition, structure, and properties of inorganic substances to understand inorganic ingredients (e.g., acidulants, oxygen, water buffers) used in Company products and research on ingredient stability.
