Job Title: Certified WelderReports to SupervisorShift: 2nd (8-hour shifts) (Will be assigned to overtime hours to meet production needs)
Summary: Position, align, fit, and weld metal components together to fabricate or repair products according to design drawing tolerances and specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Observe and follow all safety rules.Must be willing and able to work overtime as an extension to your normal workday or weekends, as scheduled.Must be able to read a tape measure, 6" scale, and a combination square or possibility to learn toread these measuring tools.Must read and comprehend blue prints.Must keep your Hunter's D1.1 certification current.Must correctly fit and weld parts to be conforming to design drawing tolerances.Must supply own welding helmet (preferably with 2" X 4 1/4" lens), tape measure, and 6" scale.Positions parts in jig or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamp parts together along layout marks.Examines welds for size, location, and conformance to design drawings and specifications.Repairs defective welds, and broken or cracked metal objects, fills holes, and builds up metal parts.Must perform layout, fit up, and tack workpieces.Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or spatter and oxidation as required.Must be able to consistently meet quality standards and production standards.Must print blue prints, MOS, drawings, or other work instrcutions each day.Clean or degrease parts.Must be able to use an oxy/acetylene torch or plasma cutting tool.Maintain the work area to sustain a clean and orderly environment.May train other operators.Must be willing and able to be trained to operate a variety of welding robot machines.
This job has no supervisoty responsibilities.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED is required.Must be able to pass a welding certification test at Hunter Engineering.Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) of Silver or higher required.One year of welding experience in an industrial setting.Must be able to operate material handling equipment such as overhead cranes or motorized or manual pallet jacks.Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications beneficial.Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, design drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.Basic skill level in computer programs such as Microsoft Office is highly desirable.Physical Demands:
Standing and walking frequently throughout the shift.Frequent bending throughout the shift.Occasionally required to climb or balance.Occasionally required to stoop, crouch or kneel.Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Frequently use of hands and fingers to reach, handle and feel.Constant use of close and distance vision; peripheral vision and depth perception needed.Ability to identify and distinguish colors.Environment:
Moderate noise level throughout the plant.Exposure to fumes and air particles.
