  Position Summary:

  The certified Professional Coder position is an essential member of the Revenue Cycle Management team and is responsible for conducting coding reviews and proactive company education, training, and remediation of identified coding weaknesses and coding -related denials. The coder is an expert in deciphering physician practice medical records and coding to the highest level of specificity. Their role is to work collaboratively with team members, lead and manage to keep up to date with changes within the Ophthalmology specialty.

  Job Duties & Essential Functions:

  Review documentation in patient EMR/PM management systems for appropriate CPT and ICD10 diagnosis codes.

  Work with Compliance leads to determining changes in coding processes at front and back-end.

  Assist Accounts Receivable team with coding related denials, with an emphasis on proactive stratification and process changes and monitoring.

  Consistently meet department defined benchmarks while maintaining accuracy.

  Charge posting and review.

  Required Qualifications:

  CPC (Certified Professional Coder)

  Demonstrate an understanding of the CPT guidelines for separate procedures, bundling, and add-on-codes, as applicable, diagnosis coding to highest level of specificity and modifier use.

  Minimum 2+ years of professional, outpatient experience with Ophthalmology coding; reviewing, abstracting, and coding medical records.

  Ability to communicate, both verbal and written

  Outstanding organizational skills

  This is a hybrid position, with flexible remote work possibilities.

  Experience in ASC coding, a plus

  Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

  Pay Rate: $30 - $40 / Hourly. This is a Hybrid Position
