　　As a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, under the watch of a physician or supervisor, you will perform clinical and technical ophthalmic duties and basic patient care. Caregivers in this position will be responsible for performing routine screening tests, documenting patient information, and performing stocking and maintenance daily.

　　Responsibilities:

　　Performs initial patient examinations, ophthalmic testing procedures and assists physician with related examinations/procedures as directed.

　　Documents patient information in the patient medical record.

　　Assists with training non-certified technicians and students.

　　Performs clerical, stocking, maintenance and other related duties.

　　Other duties as assigned.

　　Education:

　　High School Diploma or equivalent.

　　Successful completion of the JCAHPO written exam and skill evaluation for Certified Ophthalmic Technician.

　　Certifications:

　　Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) by Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).Complexity of Work:

　　Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.

　　Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

　　Work Experience:

　　Minimum of 2 years of experience required.Physical Requirements:

　　Manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical equipment utilized to perform testing procedures.

　　Manual dexterity to perform various exams and hold equipment; good eye-hand coordination; may require long periods of standing and walking.
