  The Patriot, A Choice Community, is a not-for-profit continuing care retirement community comprised of 100-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, a 76-bed Personal Care home and the security of a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in the historic former Somerset Area High School.

  The Patriot, a Choice Community managed by Affinity Health Services, is located at 495 West Patriot Street, Somerset, PA 15501

  OUR CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT POSITION

  The primary function of this position is to assist in the provision of nursing care and related services for all residents under their assigned area and in compliance with all federal, state and local guidelines, standards and regulations which govern the facility. CNAs work under the guidance and direction of the Nursing Supervisor and/or Director of Nursing to ensure that each resident's medical, psychosocial and spiritual needs and wishes are met effectively and efficiently.

  We currently have FULL-TIME, PART-TIME and CASUAL positions on the EVENING and NIGHT shifts.

  TOP AREAS OF FOCUS FOR OUR CNAs

  Assists residents in all activities of daily living: bathing dressing, grooming, nutritional needs, transferring, ambulation, continence and oral hygiene according to their plan of care.Assists in performing restorative nursing functions such as bowel and bladder training, range of motion, turning and positioning, transfers, ambulation, vision, hearing, and communication.Responds to all resident call bells regardless of assignment.Carries out all basic care procedures such as catheter care, temperatures, pulses, heights, weights, specimen collection, intakesUses proper infection control techniques, including universal precautions, to prevent the spread of diseases.Observes residents and reports changes of physical, psychosocial, spiritual and emotional conditions to the Nursing Supervisor.Completes documentation regarding care and services rendered and the resident's response or lack of response to the care/services rendered as directed by the Nursing Supervisor.Performs various cleaning duties, using appropriate sanitizing chemicals/solutions as indicated and as directed by the Charge Nurse.Actively participates in various quality improvement initiatives, various committees, and with in-service training as directed.Maintains confidentiality of information.Always exhibit a high-level of professionalism.BEST PARTS OF THE JOB

  High School Diploma or GED. Must have Nurse Aide certification in Pennsylvania or have completed an approved nurse aide training program and pass the required examinations within 120 days of employment.

  PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  Physical demands include the ability to walk extensively, sit for extended periods of time and bend, lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds frequently. Must be able to operate lifting equipment regularly and push and pull carts and/or resident transportation devices up to three hundred (300) pounds.
