Job Summary:
The HSE Ceramics Matrix Composite (CMC) Team is looking for an M4 Design Manager to support the CMC Design, Methods, and Structures Team. This is a technical supervisor position where the selected candidate will supervise 2-3 Design Engineers, potentially including outsourcing support. The selected candidate will report to the CMC Design Manager with whom the candidate will coordinate the staffing and execution of CMC sub-element, rig, and component design tasks. The Design Manager will contribute to Leader’s intent definition, budget estimation, staff planning, and prioritization of CMC part design tasks. They will embrace the Thayer Leadership principles and help foster the daily use of the AGILE principals amongst multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). This role provides an excellent opportunity to supervise engineers while remaining highly technical.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensuring Design Engineers are fully engaged in supporting the CIPT and all internal and external Customers.
Providing technical mentorship and performance feedback to their direct reports.
Guiding and coaching their direct reports on the management and communication of risk and the execution of risk-based decision making.
Ensure appropriate Outsourcing work is completed, reviewed, and approved, consistent with discipline strength and development.
Guide Continuous improvement of CMC part design utilizing the CORE principles.
Supporting the execution of the Product Design Review Process including: Facilitating EKS task tailoring / selection with the IPTs and HSE Chiefs at task initiation.
Reviewing technical work for both completeness and accuracy.
Helping ensure the timely and proper execution of Design Discipline Reviews.
Basic Qualifications:
BS in Engineering.
8+ years of composite design experience, or 5+ years with an advanced degree
Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Travel Requirements: 10%
Preferred Qualifications:
BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
Minimum of 10 years of gas turbine experience.
Demonstrate skill in leading and managing a technical team.
IPT leadership experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a consistent record of collaboration, innovation, and initiative.
Proven demonstration of risk-based decision-making, analytical skills, business understanding.
Knowledge of Design Engineering Knowledge System (EKS).
Previous supervisory experience a plus.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
