Job Description Summary
The Central Supply Technician (CST), will be responsible for the dailystoring, management, picking/packing and distribution of medicalsupplies and equipment. The CST is also responsible for medicalequipment deployment, recovery, cleaning/sterilization and staging forre-use. Transports patients to and from Shirley Ryan AbilityLab tooutside medical appointments.

Job Description
The Central Supply Technician:
Delivers, scans, and stock bulk supplies, maintaining adequate inventorylevels of all par-leveled supply cabinets.
Assists with the processing of the GP system-generated bulk supplyrequisitions within the replenishment schedules established in thedepartment.
Picks supplies according to system-generated tickets accurately, bundlessupplies according to the system generated Packing Slips, and deliversmedical supplies to supply areas on patient floors or in otherdepartments.
Maintains inventory in the Central Supply, monitoring stock levels,storing/rotating stock, and checking for expired items.
Manages the inventory, supply and replenishment of medical gases,including exchanging empty oxygen tanks, and retrieving empty liquidoxygen shoulder tanks and portable oxygen generators for cleaning andreplenishment/recharging.
Conducts daily rounds of patient floors to retrieve discontinued medicalequipment for return to Central Supply for cleaning/sterilizing andre-use.
Advises the Coordinator regarding malfunctioning or damaged medicalequipment in need of review and repair by Clinical Engineering oroutside vendors, documenting repair/replacement actions to properlyaccount for all medical equipment.
Transports and maintains Emergency Carts according to proceduresestablished by the CPR committee.
May assist with assembling and staging Enclosure Beds assemblies, asneeded, to maintain adequate inventory.
May transport patients to and from appointments internally as well as toand from treatment rooms as needed.
Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest ofthe Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
Reporting Relationships
Reports directly to the Manager, Central Supply and Distribution
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Work requires educational development normally acquired through highschool to perform according to written procedures; correctly interpretreceiving documents and supply requisitions; and perform simplecalculations, and analysis.
A valid driver\'s license and good driving record is preferred.
Minimum 3 months of orientation an training to ensure knowledge ofstoring and distribution procedures, as well as for on-the-jobexperience to learn how to safely and efficiently operate variousautomatic cleaning and disinfecting equipment, and to utilize aseptictechniques.
Work requires the upper and lower body strength and dexterity to safelypush a medical supply cart, a patient bed, wheeled medical equipment, apatient wheelchair, and lift and move medical supplies at above-the-headand below-the-knee shelf levels. Must able to lift/move at least fortypounds of material weight.
Interpersonal skills required that provide for professional andcourteous treatment of patients during transport, regardless ofconditions. Also includes the ability to exchange factual information inan accurate and courteous manner with any and all Institute staff.
Ability to understand and comply with infection control, safety, andOSHA procedures and regulations.
Working Conditions
Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extremetemperature.
