Planning and Merchandising Work with Store Manager to achieve sales and margin goals for department by reviewing departmental financial reports (sales, labor, margin, turns). Review reports with department staff and develop action plan for correcting financial performance as necessary. In partnership with Marketing, implement promotional plan for the sub departments and stay current with promotional, seasonal and special ads Establish department condition standards and ensure the standards are upheld Develop appropriate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation. Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines. Ensure an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store. Monitor and control expenses for the departments. Plan, organize and supervise the inventory and inventory process. Lead cycle count team. Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering. Demonstrate creative merchandising. Establish and maintain workload standards for stocking and fronting of product. Integrate best practice work processes into daily department operations. Ensure that all current merchandising, customer service, labor control, expense and supply controls, loss prevention, maintenance, safety, food safety, associate and customer engagement rules are being followed. Notify and take-action with Store Manager and Human Resources Manager to address performance issues with department staff. Co-op Leadership and Communication Ensure or directly hire, oversee, evaluate, and manage performance of all Center Store employees. Ensure timely performance evaluations, coaching and Performance Management. Develop and coach leadership skills in Center Store supervisor Ensure Center Store employees are trained in procedures to ensure consistency. Provide clear expectations and require the same of the Supervisor and Shift Leads. Delegate tasks as appropriate and redirect staff with questions to their direct supervisors to reinforce leadership skills of Supervisors. Ensure priorities for Center Store support proper staffing, productive workflow, and standardized procedures. Maintain on-boarding training documentation for all department staff. Ensure materials are regularly updated and that all department staff receive the full on-board training.Work with Store Manager and HR to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for employees. Submit requests to hire to Store Manager and ensure equitable, competitive compensation. Ensure employee input and recognition. Lead by example to inspire employee engagement and commitment to our mission, vision and values. Ensure Center Store staff are trained in cashiering and respond to all back-up cashier pages. Lead store Safety Committee, meeting at least quarterly and seeing that all issues raised are responded to. Coordinate with Store Manager as necessary Hold regular department huddles and department meetings Ensure all Center Store staff complete the quarterly Continuing Education Units (CEUs) Provide leadership and direction to center store employees, setting performance objectives, coaching and developing skills to ensure that they achieve their goals; address underperformance quickly and decisively. Proactively and continually seek and implement innovative solutions to increase quality, value, service and efficiency for our members and customers.
