Description
We are seeking a candidate to join a local government agency in their Zoning and Planning department. As a zoning coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with zoning regulations and ordinances in various construction and development projects. You will work closely with developers, architects, city planners, and government officials to navigate zoning laws and secure necessary permits. Pay is based on experience - entry level candidates and experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Zoning Compliance: Ensure that proposed projects comply with local zoning laws, regulations, and ordinances.
Permitting Process: Guide developers through the permitting process, including zoning approvals, variances, and conditional use permits.
Documentation: Prepare and submit zoning applications, site plans, and other required documentation to regulatory agencies.
Research: Conduct research on zoning codes, land use regulations, and planning policies to provide accurate guidance to stakeholders.
Coordination: Coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders, such as architects, engineers, government officials, and community members, to address zoning-related issues.
Communication: Serve as a liaison between the project team and regulatory agencies to facilitate communication and resolve zoning-related issues.
Public Meetings: Attend public hearings and meetings to present zoning proposals, address concerns, and gather feedback from community members.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of zoning approvals, permits, correspondence, and other relevant documents.
Requirements
Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in urban planning, public administration, or a related field.
Previous experience working in zoning, land use planning, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of zoning laws, regulations, and land use policies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, site plans, and zoning maps.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and GIS software.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
