How You Will Contribute
T he Philadelphia Museum of Art is looking for a graduate student to fill a summer fellowship with a focus on American painting and sculpture from the mid-nineteenth century to c. 1950.
Specifically, you will:
The Summer Fellow will be chosen to assist the Curators in the Museum’s Department of American Art, contributing to ongoing planning for the reinstallation of the museum’s collection of American art from 1840 to 1950.
Your background and experience include:
Graduate students in art history or related fields with an interest in American arts are encouraged to apply.
Position and Compensation Details
This is a stipend position of $4,000
This position reports to The Robert L. McNeil, Jr., Senior Curator of American Art, and Director, Center for American Art
This is a 10-week term position slated between June 1st and August 31st, 2024
Physical requirements:
Able to remain stationary for extended periods of time, to utilize computers and other office equipment required of this job, to perform physically administrative duties in a typical interior office environment, gallery, or exhibit space, and to access most public and staff areas of the museum campus
COVID-19 vaccination required.
Background check required after a conditional job offer is made. Consideration of the background check will be tailored to the requirements of the job.
