Cat Scan Technician
Performs duties directly involved with a variety of CAT Scan procedures. Prioritizes the patient as number one, and to put forth the utmost quality as a CT Technologist.
Requirements:
Must have State of New Jersey License and ARRT
CT certification obtained within one year of hire.
CPR certified or willing to obtain within six months of hire.
Experience: Three years hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Positions patient to obtain study as prescribed by standard operating procedures.
Able to position all anatomical parts as indicated by the Standard Operating Procedures.
Performs the preparation in order to insure the prompt commencement of the procedure.
Ensures all necessary equipment is at hand prior to starting the ordered examination.
Under the direction of a Radiologist, instructs and administers cleansing preps and contrast agents.
Protects patients and other personnel by administrating proper radiation protection techniques.
Protects the reproductive organs with appropriate apparel, if visualization of these areas is not required.
Transfers and properly position patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications.
Assists physicians in performance of examinations.
As outlined in radiology policy and procedure and under the direction of the medical chairman the technologist will have proven competency in the administration of IV contrast media, to include venipuncture.
Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Secures and returns supplies. Maintains room and room s stock.
Responsible for necessary equipment maintenance recommendations and trouble shooting when indicated. Keeps all necessary equipment maintenance logs which pertain to preventative maintenance of Emergency service.
Makes sure all necessary supplies are in room and restocks room accordingly.
Responsible for patient scheduling and smooth flow of schedule and patient preparation including contrast administration.
Responsible for quality control of Cat scan examinations.
Uses the computer system according to standard operating procedures:
Able to enter studies in RIS and HIS, and track cases.
Able to split and fix studies in PACS as necessary.
Performs a variety of related clerical tasks as necessary.
Cooperates with all hospital personnel in a positive and professional manner, maintaining ethical relationships. Maintains a positive and loyal attitude towards employer.
Rotates shifts covering weekends and on-call.
Attends in-service training as required by the department
Able to attend the majority of educational in-services.
Explains procedures to the patient and answers any questions prior to the commencement of the procedures.
Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation prior to the submitting of the procedure for interpretation.
Assists in the instruction of student technologists
Able to demonstrate technical art to the students.
Able to evaluate student performance and fill out observation forms.
