Position Description/Minimum Qualifications * The AFC program (AdultFoster Care Program) is a MassHealth program that pays caregivers fortaking care of a friend or family member, living in the same household,that has a serious health condition or is physically or mentallydisabled. The program offers financial assistance that can be lifechanging for some families. To qualify for the program, the person beingcared for must be 16 years old or older and must have MassHealthStandard or MassHealth CommonHealth. The person being cared for musthave a serious illness or physical or mental health condition and beunable to safely live alone. The program helps bridge the gap in incomethat many caregivers face while trying to manage the obligations of ahousehold and take care of a loved one. There are no income limits forcaregivers to qualify and payments are tax free stipends that typicallydo not count towards income for other government benefits. Spouses arenot eligible to be paid caregivers at this time, however someone else(over the age of 18) living in the same household may be eligible.
