Summary:
The echo tech is responsible for performing all echo TE and TEE procedures in the department, at the bedside and in PACU, including those utilizing contrast agents. The sonographer assists the cardiologist and/or other licensed, privileged physicians during echocardiograph procedures. The sonographer must show independent judgment when performing procedures and when addressing difficult or unusual situations. The echo tech is responsible for evaluating images for technical quality.
Major Responsibilities:
Performs all Echo procedures
Utilizes Hospital EMR and Cardiology PACS system with accuracy
Assesses patients to determine ability to undergo ordered procedure
Accept additional assignments and tasks
Provide Echo department coverage after hours, weekends and holidays participating in “ON-CALL” rotation
Supports the mission and values of St. Francis Hospital
Requirements:
Active certification by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in Echocardiography (RDCS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)(RCS)
BLS certification required
