  Description

  PeaceHealth is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer - Echocardiology for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $43.26 – $67.33. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

  Hiring bonus available, and relocation assistance may be available.

  This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

  Responsible for performing diagnostic and special procedures ultrasonography in accordance with established policies and procedures. Must use independent judgment in applying knowledge of clinical cardiology, acoustic imaging technology, and problem-solving skills to optimize the echocardiographic evaluation, tailoring and expanding the exam to ensure comprehensiveness and diagnostic accuracy.

  DETAILS OF POSITION:

  Performs prescribed ultrasound procedures using a variety of equipment to get preliminary echocardiographic measurements. Must be competent at the performance of adult echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography and contrast studies.

  Must follow department imaging protocols, appropriately acquire all echocardiographic measurements per protocol, create digital preliminary reports for the interpreting physician, and verbally communicate preliminary findings to the interpreting physician when necessary.

  Prepare, supply and equip ultrasound rooms to meet specific cardiologist and physician requirements for procedures.

  Performs other duties as assigned.

  WHAT YOU BRING:

  Accredited Program Required: Diagnostic Ultrasound

  Preferred: . CAAHEP accredited with emphasis

  Internship Preferred: Cardiac. Minimum six months full-time

  1 year Preferred: Experience as cardiac sonographer

  Required : Registered Cardiac Sonographer (Oregon and Washington Requirement) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (Oregon and Washington Requirement) or ARDMS Peds Echocardiology (Washington Requirement: May be considered if working with the specified patient care population and as approved by department leadership) or ARDMS Adult Echocardiology (Washington Requirement: May be considered if working with the specified patient care population and as approved by department leadership) or Adult Cardiac Sonography (Oregon Requirement)

  Required: Basic Life Support

  Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs. (Required)

  Computer experience (Required)

  Good interpersonal, organizational and decision-making skills (Required)

  Ability to take initiative and work independently (Required)

  Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. (Required)

  Whatcom:

  New Graduates have one year to obtain registration through ARDMS, must be ARDMS eligible upon date of hire.Longview:

  Must be ARDMS eligible upon date of hire.

  Registered Diagnostic Vascular Sonographer (RVT) or Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS) required. New Hires/Graduates have one year to RVS or RVT to obtain registration.

  Working Conditions

  Lifting

  Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

  Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.

  Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment.

  Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 30 lbs.

  Push/Pull: Frequently up to 13 lbs. force. Occasionally up to 30 lbs. force.

  Reaching frequently.

  Environmental Conditions

  Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.Mental/Visual

  Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

  Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
