Duties and Responsibilities
The Campus Minister for Faith and Justice provides pastoral ministry to students; encourages spiritual and moral growth; plans and directs faith and justice-based programs and activities that promote the University’s Jesuit and Catholic Mission. The Campus Minister for Faith and Justice is primarily focused on the student experience at the Water Tower Campus ( WTC ) and needs to be a proven collaborator and bridge builder seeking new and creative opportunities to partner with Schools and Departments in the work of Campus Ministry. As a member of the wider Campus Ministry team, this person serves our student population attending to their spiritual well-being in line with the Ignatian principle of Care for the Whole Person (Cura Personalis).
Faith Programing
Design, implement, and assess ministry and formation program for students based around Catholic Social Teaching, Ignatian Spirituality, and current community engagement best practices.
Provide formal and informal opportunities for theological reflection by students throughout the University Experience.
Present on Ignatian Spirituality and Jesuit Mission to students, parents, and campus partners at orientation, academic course presentations, and trainings with a priority to covering sessions at WTC .
Supports worship and liturgy at the Water Tower Campus through presence, participation where appropriate, marketing, and administrative support on an as needed basis.
Justice Service
Coordinates and participates in the Labre Ministry to those experiencing homelessness.
Recruit, train, and provide ongoing formation and support for Labre student leaders and participants.
Ensures students are utilizing best practices for engagement, risk management, and safety.
Identify fundraising opportunities.
Organizes the annual collection drive “Labre Gives.”
University and Campus Ministry Collaboration
Attend and participate in Division of Mission Integration and Campus Ministry events and meetings.
Participate in programming and events related to the larger Campus Ministry team, including retreats, immersions, pilgrimages, and other opportunities.
Provide pastoral support for undergraduate and graduate students at WTC by responding to referrals from WTC Student Life, Baumhart Hall Residence Life, and Wellness Center.
Manage budgets related to Campus Ministry activities at the WTC .
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
M.Div. or other pastoral ministry degree supplemented with three years of pastoral ministry experience, preferably in a university setting.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in theology, pastoral studies or related field and 1-3 years of experience in Campus Ministry, Youth Ministry, or related field. Experience in Jesuit higher education preferred. A person with an active and practiced faith tradition and adept at ecumenical and interfaith relationships. Experience creating inclusive and diverse environments.
