Job Summary
Supervise and coordinate all timber harvesting and silvicultural activities on the Fairview Tree Farm, emphasizing service and net return to the client. In this role you will assist area and district managers with providing forest management expertise in support of annual property specific goals and objectives as well as achieving annual harvest goals to ensure customer satisfaction. In this role you will perform all duties in accordance with Campbell Global's budgetary, regulatory, and environmental guidelines.
Job Responsibilities
Identify, plan, execute, and manage projects in the following areas: Harvesting, long term plans and budgeting and track cost and production data needed for budget and forecasting purposes.
Implement policies, procedures, and guidelines regarding all forestry activities to ensure the highest quality while managing cost effectiveness.
Administer forestry contractor process including initiation, bid and prospectus, contract preparation, payment schedule, etc.
Assist in timber harvest layout, permits, and notices of operation with regards to silviculture and stewardship principles.
Maintain knowledge and understanding of local markets and mill utilization standards and of current wildlife and environmental issues, addressing any concerns that may arise.
Address land use issues and make agreements as needed, in coordination with US Land Use Manager.
Actively participate in the implementation and utilization of GIS and implement safety training and policies.
Ensure that environmental or financial risk management reporting is conducted in a timely and professional manner to Area Manager and, if appropriate, local Safety Coordinator.
Respond to internal and external information requests in conjunction with management and team members.
Actively participate within the organization to ensure all timberland management investment services meet or exceed client commitments.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Forestry, Engineering, or closely related field
5 year's work experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of applicable state and federal forestry laws and Best Management Practices.
Knowledge of forest harvest practices and log merchandizing and grading, silviculture and forest inventory techniques, and log markets/sorts.
Land records experience and knowledge of land sale transactions.
Excellent supervisory skills (employees and contractors).
Ability to perform financial analysis and knowledge of accounting reports and contracts
Valid Driver's License and good driving record.
Ability to work alone in the outdoors over extremely rough, brushy, and uneven terrain in all weather conditions required.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds daily.
