JOB REQUIREMENTS: YMCA Camp Glacier Hollow, in Central Wisconsin, offerssafe, fun, resident overnight and day camps for youth, fostering growthand development. Camp Lifeguards will be responsible for running andmaintaining safety during all waterfront-related program activities andswim periods. Camp Lifeguards will also be responsible for maintenanceand cleanliness of waterfront supplies and waterfront area, inspectingand reporting any safety concerns, and leading and coordinating allsafety procedures. Additional responsibilities may include supportingoverall camp programs, teaching camp and environmental educationactivities, kitchen support, general facility cleanliness, and otherduties as determined by the Waterfront Director and/or Camp Director.WORK SCHEDULE: The Stevens Point Area YMCA has a full schedule ofprograms during the summer months, including programs that continue onsome weekends and holidays. Typical schedule for Camp Lifeguard is 20-30hours a week, Sunday-Friday, with flexibility and may include day,evening, some overnight and weekend times. A schedule will be arrangedin advance. Positions will be filled as qualified applicants areidentified. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: A validdriver\'s license, CPR and first aid, and lifeguarding certificationsrequired. Waterfront Skills preferred. WSI certification a plus.Preference will be given to applicants who have completed college coursework or a degree in camp management, environmental education, education,recreation or related fields. Previous leadership experience and/ordesire to work with youth and teens is required. Must be a positiverole-model, flexible, energetic, dedicated and a responsible teamplayer. Some online pre-camp training may be required. PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lead and participate along with groups ofcampers in various physical activities and in various indoor/outdoorsettings. Such activities include traditional camp activities, canoeing,teambuilding, swimming, and other sports and activities.
