Under the direction of the Senior Program Director, Youth Program Coordinator, and in the accordance with the association and policies of the Northern Lights YMCA, the Camp Director will be responsible for the health, welfare and happiness of campers in his/her care. In addition, will be the administrator for licensing requirements for compliancy for the state of Michigan.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Preside over all CAMP FUNCTIONS.Create a positive environment conducive to child & staff development.Interact with children, act as a role model.Maintain all YMCA standards and rules.Be aware of all safety hazards. Implement first aid, CPR, or AED training if necessary. Be sure to record all injuries.Ensure no distraction or interference with the delivery of camp activities (no reading, texting, talking on cell phone, or wearing headphones while on duty).Be aware of the location of campers and staff at all times.Create appropriate lesson plans (encourage positive learning) and enthusiastically facilitate activities. Incorporate YMCA core values in all lessons plans.Coordinate, assign leadership & supervise lesson plans/activities.Ensure safety and cleanliness of program area and equipment.Inform proper staff of equipment needs including first aid.Maintain required current certifications.Assist with PRE/POST camp and water safety duties.Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.Provide excellent service to members, participants and parents.Evaluate progress of program and staff.Prepare weekly schedule for staff and campers. (STAFF: Pick Up, Waterfront, Clean UP, etc).Perform other related duties as required.YMCA COMPETENCIES (Leader):

QUALIFICATIONS:
Be not less than 21 years of age.
Have a minimum of 8 weeks of cumulative full-time experience working with a populations like that which the camp serves.
Have a minimum of 4 weeks of full-time administrative experience in an organized camp or similar program.
