California Connections Academy is a network of tuition-free public online schools for students in grades K–12. The network of schools is operated by the nonprofit California Online Public Schools and currently includes six schools serving students in 32 counties in California. California Connections Academy schools are accredited by the Schools Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
Position Summary and Responsibilities
NOTE: This is a 10-month, full-time position for California Certified employees. Work hours are M-F during the academic school day with start time between 7 - 8am PST and end of day between 3:30 - 4:30pm PST.
Working from your home office, floating teachers & counselors will manage instructional programs virtually and serve in a substitute capacity, covering employee leave of absences on demand.
As full-time employees, our floating teachers & counselors provide behavioral and academic support for students in academic subjects as requested by employees going on leave and at the guidance of instructional leadership staff. Through use of the telephone, Internet and various curriculum tools they will consult regularly with learning coaches and students to ensure that each child successfully completes their instructional program. Eligible candidates must meet California Teacher, Special Education, or Counselor Certification requirements for secondary education.
The floating teacher/counselor will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
Teachers complete grading in a timely manner to communicate student progress to students and parents.
Communicate frequently with parents, students and other academic staff on a regular basis to provide feedback on student work, suggest instructional approaches and strategies, monitor completion of assignments and coach special projects.
Support students and parents through weekly synchronous contacts to provide strategies for success in a virtual environment and assistance with assignments and projects as needed.
Support the instructional program with synchronous and asynchronous lessons, recordings, and instructional materials.
Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to presenting lessons to increase student understanding and engagement (working directly with students and parents).
Work collaboratively with across departments to review data and develop instructional strategies.
Participate in the organization and administration of in-person State Testing, as directed.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Highly qualified and certified to teach Special Education in the state of California
Strong technology skills (especially in Microsoft OS and MS Office Programs)
Excellent communication skills, both oral and

This position ranges from $66,243.50 - $89,090.14 based on relevant education and experience.
