　　Job Summary

　　Under the indirect and intermittent supervision of a Field Foreman and/or the work direction of a Sr. Rigger Checker, drives, operates, tows and positions all cable pulling, manhole cleaning and cable hauling equipment to and from work locations. Sets up, arranges and uses cable pulling equipment; operates controls to hydraulic, power driven cable pulling, rodding equipment to install and remove all sizes and voltages of cable from manholes, tunnels, conduit, pipe, river crossings, URD systems, stations, substations, buildings, power plants, etc; rod cable ducts; clean manholes, etc. Services equipment and makes minor repairs. Assists in training new Cable Pulling Rigger-Operators, as assigned.

　　Key Accountabilities

　　DRIVES, OPERATES, TOWS and POSITIONS all types of cable pulling, manhole cleaning and cable hauling equipment to and from work locations. DRIVES tractor or tractor-trailer truck on all types of roads under varying traffic conditions. REGULATES control levers, switches, buttons and throttles on hydraulic lifting, cable pulling and rodding equipment to load and unload cable reels; install and/or remove all sizes and voltages of cable from manholes, tunnels, conduit, pipe, river crossings, URD systems, stations, substations, buildings, power plants, etc; push and rotate rods, engage wrench or capston, set outriggers, etc. MONITORS gauges, footage meter, etc. CONTROLS tension on rod and/or cable.SETS up, ARRANGES, and USES cable pulling equipment such as wire and steel ropes, sheaves, block and tackle, cable pulling and screw jacks, chains, stanchions, wood supports, cable grips, jamb skid, hydraulic jack, tubes, quadrants, reels, truck mounted winch and electric hoist. On occasion, SETS UP portable dynamometer for field check on cable pulls.Manually RODS and ROPES ducts. CLEANS manholes, UNPLUGS drains and ducts. SPLICES rope. USES safety meter to check for explosive vapors and oxygen deficiency. ACTS as flagman and SETS UP safety barriers.ERECTS, DISMANTLES and WORKS from ladders, scaffolds and platforms. LOADS and UNLOADS tools and equipment, mounts reels, etc. CUTS cable faults and PLACES proper tags on cable (i.e. line designation, safety and protective, etc.). INSTALLS transmission cables. quadrants, bull wheels, etc; IDENTIFIES cable sections by heater and power circuits toERECTS and DISMANTLES cable conveyor, feed tubes, CONNECTS dynamometer to cable pulling jack; tagging and stenciling cable reel numbers; PLUGS in pole mounted connection box, etc.USES tools such as hammers, shovels, wrenches, jacks, hack saw, electric saw, blow torch, stove hook, wiping pad, etc. OPERATES and MAKES minor adjustments to gasoline or hydraulic powered pumps, generators, blowers, etc.WORKS from verbal instructions, D.O.'s , pencil notes, conduit
