Duties & Responsibilities
Co mmunicate orally in the English language with customers, co-workers, vendors and the public in face-to-face one-to-one settings, or using the telephone with excellent communication skills.
Review requests; deal with vendors and internal stakeholders, examining price and availability of product or services.
Ensure the material pipeline for new products being developed by engineering through analysis of Bills of Material and MRP
Work closely with Engineering and Operations New Product Teams to requisition material, execute expense and inventory purchase orders, resolve critical material shortages, track product cost, as well as develop and monitor risk management plans .
Review work scopes and find if delivery requirements are clear.
Obtain and assess oral and written price quotes from vendors, and compare those quotes with specifications, requirements and availability.
Review orders for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with existing policies and procedures to convert requests to purchase orders in a timely manner
Interface with commodity managers and requestors as needed to for their review, negotiation or execution.
Become familiar with the P-card process and interface with the P-card administrator as needed.
Interface with the contracts process and contracts administrator as needed.
Know of common business practices relating to the purchase, pricing, terms, shipment, taxes, and payment for commodities and services.
Work cooperatively with end users and its supply base at all levels and sites.
Express ideas clearly.
Work within established policies and regulations.
Serve as a liaison between Teradyne and its vendors.
Basic Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Education Required
3-5 years of experience as a buyer involving the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, and services
An Associates or Bachelor's degree (in Business or Industrial Engineering)
Proven experience working with the Oracle operating system or similar ERP systems.
Fully Bilingual and conversational English/Spanish
Very good communication skills.
Advanced Skills in the use of personal computers and related software.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Great attention to details and ability to multitask.
Willingness to adjust working hours to meet deadlines.
APICS certification (a plus but not a requirement)
