  About the Indiana Office of Technology (IOT):

  The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to our partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer. IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.

   

  Salary:

  This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $79,118. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

  Role Overview:

  The Business Systems Consultant Specialist is a liaison between IOT and other business units within the state. You will help IOT to improve relationships with customers by promoting agency inclusion and open communication while emphasizing the stability of services. You build partnerships by gathering information, driving value, and creating mutually beneficial interactions that satisfy both agency and IOT needs and expectations.

  As state agencies increasingly rely on technology, they often find they need to establish stronger communication between IT and outside business units. This role requires a wide range of experience, hard and soft skills, and the education to fill the job requirements. You will report to the Deputy Assistant IT Director/CTO.

  A Day in the Life:

  The essential functions of this role are:

  Participating in the Information Technology strategic planning processes to identify and apply current and future service offerings to meet the needs of current and potential customers.

  Overseeing and recommending quality improvement efforts.

  Formulating and defining system scopes and objectives through research and fact-finding that reflect an understanding of user needs, business systems, and industry requirements.

  Creating and managing process changes that integrate new processes with existing ones and then communicating changes to the impacted business systems teams.

  Establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with assigned customers in order to help them meet their business and technical needs.

  Ensuring business and user needs are met with timely and accurate service.

  Managing the expectations of customers, peers, vendors, and management.

  What You'll Need for Success:

  The ideal candidate in this role should minimally have either

  Management Experience and a solid understanding of Information Technology Services.

  Customer service, vendor management, contract management, project management, and subject matter expertise for internal IOT processes.

  Ability to understand customer agency business strategy and processes, as well as technical architecture (including applications, infrastructure, and governance).

  Experience in written/verbal communication on an academic or professional level.

  Excellent problem-solving skills.

  Extensive knowledge of the organization’s business systems and industry requirements.

  Broad knowledge of technical problems and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment.

  Ability to apply project management methodologies to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.

  Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

  Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

  Ability to understand how change management methodology aligns with and enhances project management and implementation.
