What exactly do we do? The department serves state government by providing and improving business services to other state agencies in the areas of accounting, human resources, contracting, construction, information technology, and insurance. We have recently added new services that include data management and modernization strategies, a centralized office to manage and respond to public information requests, and we expect to deploy more than $600 million in federal grants to expand broadband internet service to the citizens of Montana. This position will support and facilitate the work of the newly created Education and Workforce Data Governance Board. The board is responsible to develop and implement policies and procedures for the linking and sharing of education and workforce data among contributing agencies; facilitate using the data to inform decision making by entities to maximize the operational efficiency of the state’s education and workforce systems; and ensure compliance with federal and state privacy laws. In partnership with our Chief Data Officer and the Office of Public Instruction, this position will coordinate all activities associated with board meetings and other related forums and events; capture meeting minutes and follow-up on action items; develop and prepare materials for meetings; research and draft policies; coordinate special projects and activities on behalf of the board; assist with communication across various entities associated with board activities; and provide general administrative support, as assigned. This position is currently funded through June of 2025.
