Job Description
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado, is the nation's primary laboratory for research and development of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. The successful candidate will:
Be the main point of contact for Subcontracting within the Buildings Program.
Focus specifically on identifying and addressing subcontracting needs across the entire NREL Buildings Program, from requirements definition and solicitation placement, to tracking, invoicing, and closeout.
Support a subset of projects within the Buildings Program to track project financial performance, address scheduling and staffing needs, and monitor task and deliverable progress.
Work with the Operations Team to design, build, and maintain complex Power BI Dashboards that are used for data analysis and to present data to internal and external stakeholders.
We are looking for candidates who can:
Be excited to own and create subcontracting processes and toolsets across more than 100 projects alongside the Buildings Operations Team.
Develop vendor requests for proposals and track subsequent deliverables and financial performance for any awarded subcontracts.
Work in an interdisciplinary environment with diverse groups of people.
Work with the Operations Team to identify program and project risks and solutions, and codify new tools to establish program best practices.
Communicate well within small team structures, but who is also comfortable presenting to a larger group.
Help develop dynamic and useful dashboards to present information intuitively and meaningfully.
Work closely with engineers, architects, policy makers, community program implementers, and building operators to help ensure the timely and on-budget delivery of project milestones and deliverables.
An ideal candidate will have:
Experience developing vendor requests for proposals and tracking subsequent deliverables and financial performance for any awarded subcontracts.
Demonstrated proficiency with all aspects of project financial planning (from project development through execution/tracking to closeout).
Experience developing Power BI dashboards.
Exceptional writing, interpersonal, and communication skills.
About the Commercial Building Controls and Analytics Group (CBCAG): NREL’s CBCAG is hiring this Buildings Program Operations Integrator to support the greater NREL Buildings Program. CBCAG staff use engineering, applied science, and software engineering expertise to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions in the U.S. commercial building stock. We are expanding the frontier of scientific knowledge that enables optimized energy use, generation, and storage in the built environment at multiple scales with equitable outcomes designed into our research. Our research significantly enhances the resiliency, efficiency, and affordability of energy systems across the United States and the world.

Basic Qualifications
For a Project Manager III:
Relevant PhD or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Master's Degree and 3 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Advanced understanding and application of project management principles, concepts, practices and standards. Advanced knowledge of technical field and related disciplines. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts. Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, teaming and communication skills.
For a project Manager II:
Relevant Master's Degree or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Bachelor's Degree and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Complete understanding and application of project management principles, concepts, practices and standards. Full knowledge of technical field and related disciplines. Very good interpersonal, conflict resolution, teaming and communication skills

Additional Required Qualifications
· Experience developing vendor requests for proposals and tracking subsequent deliverables and financial performance for any awarded subcontracts.
· Demonstrated proficiency with all aspects of project financial planning (from project development through execution/tracking to closeout).

Exceptional writing, interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with local, state, or federal energy equity programs, initiatives, or offices.
Working knowledge of building science principles and building energy reporting terminology.
High emotional intelligence.
Experience operating within a matrixed organizational structure.
Demonstrated ability to administer and curate project repositories, such as SharePoint.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Job Profile: Project Manager III / Annual Salary Range: $79,600 - $143,300
Job Profile: Project Manager II / Annual Salary Range: $73,200 - $120,800
NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
