BUILDING ENGINEER - $41-45/hr. | Second Shift | Gaithersburg, MD
Pharmaceutical or lab experience is a plus

2nd Shift: 3pm-11pm
Guaranteed OT Saturday and Sunday once a month on rotation
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the operations, maintenance and repair of boiler and auxiliary boiler room equipment, heating, lighting, ventilating, air conditioning, power refrigeration, building electrical and pneumatic controls, water treatment, and other mechanical and electrical equipment. This position reports to the Chief Engineer or Project Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
Controls the daily operation of all mechanical equipment in the physical plant and buildings
Performs maintenance and repairs to the Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems for the facility to keep these systems up to applicable standards
Monitors operations and maintains refrigeration, water cooling and air conditioning equipment, boilers, heating, ventilating and hot water equipment, pumps, valves, piping and filters, other mechanical and electrical equipment, changing light bulbs and ballasts
Performs and/or completes all tenant service requests accurately and with minimal disruptions.
Performs preventative maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
Complies with all policies and procedures established for the building.
Ability to work long hours occasionally and some weekends
Actively participates in emergency response procedures, technical and safety training programs.
Performs all work using the proper safety equipment and in a safe manner
Other duties as assigned
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:
Follows all safety procedures and adheres to the company Safety Plan
No unscheduled downtime occurs that could have been detected during routine maintenance
Follows maintenance and testing schedules
Majority of the users say the temperature is comfortable
Takes the extra time and care to make sure the job looks good, is easy to maintain later and isn’t likely to have problems.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
5+ years of experience maintaining equipment and systems in commercial or government buildings
High school diploma or GED. Formal vocational/technical training in maintenance/mechanical/electrical related work preferred.
Demonstrated working knowledge of engineering and building systems
Must be licensed and be able to conform to all city, state, and federal licensing and certification requirements.
