We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Budget Analyst to join our team in the higher education industry on a contract-to-hire basis. As a Budget Analyst, you will play a key role in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis to support the strategic goals of our institution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance or accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for higher education.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with department heads and administrators to develop and monitor annual budgets.

Prepare budget forecasts, variance analysis, and financial reports to support decision-making processes.

Analyze financial data and trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.

Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and funding requests, ensuring alignment with budgetary guidelines.

Monitor budget performance against established goals and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

Participate in budget planning meetings and provide recommendations for resource allocation.

Develop and maintain financial models and tools to facilitate budgeting and forecasting processes.

Conduct research and analysis on best practices in budget management and financial planning in the higher education industry.

Assist in the preparation of presentations and reports for senior leadership and board meetings.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency in budget management.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in budget analysis, financial planning, or related roles, preferably in the higher education industry.

Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools.

Knowledge of budgeting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements in higher education.

Experience with budgeting software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Understanding of the mission and goals of higher education institutions and a passion for supporting their success.
